Service provision system (100) for terminal devices (50, 52; 60, 62) connected to a hybrid fiber coaxial network with at least a cable modem termination system (10). Accordingly the terminal devices can be automatically located using a four dimensional matrix with at least an identification number, an interface connection to the cable modem, at least a downstream frequency in the hybrid fiber coaxial segment and at least an upstream identification number. An Independent claim is made for a method for locating and assignement of cables to terminal devices in a hybrid fiber coaxial network.
