Context-adaptive binary arithmetic video coding, e.g. for prediction error matrix spectral coefficients, uses specifically matched context sets based on previously encoded level values
Context-adaptive binary arithmetic video coding, e.g. for prediction error matrix spectral coefficients, uses specifically matched context sets based on previously encoded level values
The method involves providing a prediction error matrix and converting it into a sequence of symbols by coefficient sampling. A context-adaptive arithmetic coding of the symbols is performed on the bases of symbol frequencies whose distribution is selected in dependence on an already encoded symbol, e.g. the symbol encoded immediately before. The prediction error matrix may be converted by coefficient sampling into a sequence of levels and lengths of null sequences. An Independent claim is also included for a computer program product containing program code for performing the method.
