Syringe (12) for purifying a liquid and/or isolating substances from it has a filter (26) positioned above its inlet/outlet (24). Purifying agent (28) is placed on the filter on the side opposite the inlet/outlet. The liquid is sucked into the syringe, allowed to stand in contact with the purifying agent and then ejected back through the inlet/outlet. Independent claims are included for: (a) a purification system comprising the syringe and a holder (30) for it; and (b) a method for purifying a liquid and/or isolating substances from it as described above.
