The cross-linear samplings are indexed in forward sequential order when a primary scanline is moved relative to the object, in top and bottom scan directions. The cross-linear samplings are indexed in reverse sequential order when secondary scanline is moved in top and bottom scan directions. An Independent claim is included for optical scanner.
