The method involves heating the drive part (3) (cam, gear wheel, disc, etc) so as to widen the bore contained therein until it is wider than the diameter of the shaft (7) onto which it is to be fitted. The drive part is then mounted on the shaft, positioned at a predetermined point and cooled to shrink-fit onto the shaft. The positioning is checked for tolerance.
