Annealing hood forms a hollow zone to retain the gas around the workpiece. The hood has a flange (3) to lie against a base and seal the hollow interior against the ambient atmosphere. The flange has a connection zone (4) with elastic distortion in the direction of the hood mantle (1), bonded to the lower edge (2) of the hood mantle by butt welding (7). The connection zone has a radially inner section (4.1) and an upward angled section (4.2) at 80 degrees towards the hood mantle.
