The harvesting unit for a maize harvester comprises two guide plates (15, 16) with parallel cooperating rollers (17, 18) mounted beneath them. The harvested material is passed by contra-rotating disks (4, 5), on which eccentrically-mounted fingers (6 -9) are fitted, through the gap (1) between the plates and rollers to a transverse conveyor (3).
