Flood protection device comprises holding rods (1) horizontally inserted into a building opening and fixed on its soffits with hollow supporting rods (2) vertically arranged on the holding rods, and covering sheets (3) with seals arranged on the supporting rods so that the building opening is protected against flood water. The supporting rods have vertical longitudinal slits on their outer sides and the covering sheets have hooks assigned to the longitudinal slits and connected to the covering sheets. Each hook has an edge on its inner side slanting toward the building by which it is supported by the supporting rods lying on the lower end of the assigned longitudinal slit.
