The device has a rotor (106), a stator (110) and a bearing (136) with which the rotor is spherically mounted and that has a bearing shell (140) and a spherical sliding body movable in the shell. The rotor produces a magnetic field and the bearing shell has a central region with no material designed so that a force vector of the resulting total force is incident on the material-free region if the rotor is asymmetrical with respect to the stator.
