Method for preparing a nucleic acid-rich aqueous extract (A) from plant materials, especially plant embryos or seeds rich in DNA and RNA comprises: (i) extraction in aqueous medium in presence of cellulytic enzymes (I), at initial pH 9-13; (ii) separating the aqueous extract; (iii) treating it with a protease; and (iv) separating insoluble components to recover a purified extract.
