The functional component to be mounted at a metal plate (40), e.g. a nut (10) or a bolt, has a body or head with a cylindrical section at one axial end and a cylindrical rivet section at the other end. The body has a conical section between the head and rivet ends, as a laying surface to fit into a cone (42) at the metal plate. The upper cylindrical section has a diameter at the edge (34) of the plate cone which is not larger than its maximum diameter. The body has a ring bead (50) with the neck section (18) to clamp at the edge zone (48) of the hole through the plate.
