A method for manufacturing a stator (1) which is constructed from a number of sheet metal segments (4), an annular core (2) and a winding (9), which comprises several winding bars (8) which are inserted into longitudinal slots (7) on the inner periphery (6) of the core (2). Initially, a cylindrical cage is constructed from several or all of the winding bars which extend parallel to one another, and the core is then constructed by forming sheet metal segments (4) on the winding bars (8) of the cage (16). Independent claims are given for the following: (A) A stator, especially a generator stator. (B) A device for manufacturing a stator.
