The heat exchanger (1), for a hot water system, has a number of flat tubes (2) each forming an inner fluid channel (2A). The flat tubes are in a stacked structure, around a gas channel (11) between neighboring tubes. The gas has a moisture content which condenses to give apparent condensation heat and also recover latent condensation heat from the gas. The gas channel has a projection (10), angled to the gas flow direction with increased dimensions towards the gas downflow side.
