The stair climbing aid has a frame (1) with two levers (2,3) whose longitudinal axis has a holding section (4), middle section (5) and end section (6). A motor (7) drives the device or a hand driven cam shaft (8) may be rotated along a longitudinal axis (9) of the frame. The cam shaft has two struts (10,11) which surround an angle of 180o. The levers are guided in a track (12) and move backwards and forwards.
