The line (18) is drawn using a pencil held in an essentially vertical position inside a holder (10) attached to the marking device (1), which can be rotated, slid and fixed into position relative to a stop (2). This stop comprises two half-sections (2a), each one providing at least two contact edges (3) with the workpiece (16) and both of them are essentially mirror symmetrical relative to the horizontal plane of the marking device.
