The warning marking for the edge (5) of a trench is a covering of plates (1) laid over it. It is composed of a rubber material containing scattered cork fragments with a grain size of =1 mm. A synthetic rubber is used which is resistant to oil, benzene, grease and the effects of age and weather. The upper surface is grooved (2) to give a lozenge pattern. The covering plates can be integrated into a floor covering (4), with an upper walking profile (6) containing non-slip surfaces (7) which can be illuminated.
