The lid (1) for containers of preferably plastic material has a cut-out (5) which is closed off by a cover (6) located in the edge region (3) of the lid and formed as a pouring device (7). The lid may be round or oval in shape, and the cover can hinge outwards, whereby the cover is connected to the lid by a hinge (8), material thinning, film hinge or other such device. The cover is resealable, and locking means are provided on the cover to interact with locking elements on the lid in the cover's closed position. An independent claim is included for a container with the proposed lid.
