A fire door (1) covers an aperture (3) in a wall (2) to a niche or chamber with an electrical system (4) and protects it from ambient (5) smoke and fire. The one-piece door is separated from the wall by esp. a fire-resistant element (8) and a smoke seal (7). The element is fabricated from laminated fire-resistant material with a coating of paint, plastic or metal.
