The protective enclosure consists of a tear-resistant synthetic material and has an opening conforming to the outer contour of the pallet (3) to be covered. The enclosure has loops (6) to accommodate a tensioning strap (7) which is equipped with a lockable turnbuckle (8). The loops are formed by an encompassing band on the opening of the enclosure and cut-out in the region of the turnbuckle.
