An elastic jointing strip for covering seams in floor and wall covering systems, e.g. tiling systems, has a securing strip with a ratchet grip fitted into the joint to take the profiled shafts of securing studs onto which the elastic strip is secured with a pressfit fastening. The heads of the studs are curved on the underside and are flat on the top. The elastic strip has a pair of grip lips on the underside, straddling a central ridge. The lips grip under the head of each stud with the head of the stud pulled against the central ridge, resulting in a tilting fitting which enables the sealing strip to bridge differences in levels each side of the seam. No additional fasteners are required to secure the strip.
