An abrasion resistant flooring which interlocks with other similar tiles in a reusable manner has a thin, hard upper layer bonded to a thicker lightweight elastic base layer. The layers are offset to provide protruding edges along two adjacent sides of the rectangular tile. This provides a simple interlocking facility. The elastic base layer is larger than the hard upper cover layer and has a wider overlap. This produces grooves between hard layers, which are filled with elastic strips. The base layer can have its upper surface with a grid pattern of drainage grooves. The base layers are bonded to the upper layers and the tiles can be taken up and reused in other sites.
