A wave powered sea water pump has a large diameter pipe (5) with a pivot mounted inlet (3) whose inlet end moves with the waves and whose inner end pushes under the bottom of a double piston (10). The double piston is operated with a pipe system and a set of non-return valves to draw seawater from near the seabed via a filter inlet (13). The double piston reciprocates in a vertical duct, with the action of the waves transmitted via the large diameter duct and to operate as a normal piston pump.
