The steel composite construction for storey floors includes a steel box girder (3), the upper flange (4) and sides (5) of which have openings (10,11) for the inserting of reinforcing elements (15) and/or for the introducing and compacting of concrete. The floor elements lie on the protruding sections (6a) of the lower flange (6) of the box girder, and spacers (12) are provided between the lower flange of the box girder and upper edge of the floor element when in the assembled state. The box girder is pretensioned by tensioning components (7) to counteract bending moments from the external loads.
