A dimensionally stable, peripheral profiled strip (1) is provided between the adjoining end edges of the two shell bodies. The strip has two sections (2) with a U-shaped cross-section for receiving the end edges of the shell bodies. Each of these sections has an inner arm inside the space between the two shell bodies and an outer arm on the outside of the shell body. The inner arm combines with the shell body in its end edge region to form an intermediate space in communication with the space between the two shell bodies via a tapered supply gap or channel, via which insulation material can be added to the intermediate space in order to fill it. The hollow body comprises two shell bodies which are joined tightly together in the region of their adjoining peripheral end edges. The space in between the shell bodies is filled with a curable foam insulation material.
