The needle is moved by a cutting sleeve with rotating/sliding movements to cut the sample from the tissue in a number of forwards and backwards movements with a set and restricted angular rotation of the biopsy needle around the longitudinal axis to overlay the sample holding zone. The rotation of the biopsy needle (2) and its sample holding zone is through rotation of the cutting sleeve (3).
