A caravan has a side-tent or awning with a beaded edge. On erection the beading is threaded into the open end of an open-tipped conical profile forming an elongated grip-slit. Following installation the beading is located within the profile while the fabric extends through the slit. The beaded edge is guided into the slit esp. by a C-shaped ring fitting whose ends terminate in rolling balls. The fitting is anchored to the caravan external wall by a flange.
