The mast foot for a wind surf rig has a basic part (30) anchorable in a component of the surf board, a head part (20) insertable in the lower mast end and an intermediate universal joint (10) connecting both parts. The universal joint is formed by two U-shaped stirrups (14,15). The insert bolt (18) for the basic part, the U-shaped stirrups and the insert bolt (11) for the head part are of metal and the U-shaped stirrups are clearance-free located by elastic distance holders (13,16). At least one of the U-shaped stirrups has a plastic surface coating.
