The collapsible servo mounting for a motor vehicle power steering has the electric motor (20) and the regulator (30) mounted to a steering column which receives a rotary steering shaft (15). The steering column has a bearing (41) for the electric motor and the regulator assembly with the latter perpendicular to the axis of the column. The bearing controls the collapse of the steering column or shaft.
