Surgical implant for replacing tendon in region of knee joint has cords passing through through-bores in femur and tibia and attached to anchorages at ends of bones

There are narrow bores (17,19) in the femur (14) and tibia (15). There are anchorages (10) at the ends remote from the knee joint (12). Tendon holders (22,23) with cross-bores (24,25) are accommodated in enlarged parts of the bores on either side of the gap between the bones (13) at the knee joint. A hamstring tendon (20) extends across the gap and is held at its ends. The anchorages incorporate hinged (40) rectangular clamping plates (42) connected to U-shaped frames (28) with holes through which the cords (26,27) pass.
