A vacuum cleaner has a pipe terminating in an adapter (1) with a combined suction pad (3) and a further pipe (4) with one or more universal joints (5) and a nozzle(6). The suction pad is applied esp. to a ceiling or wall during drilling operations into plaster, brick or stone.
