The profiled element to create an artificial floor has a chiefly solid hinge rail (16) with its shorter base line (22) as the bearing surface. At least one support rail (24) with a trapezoidal hollow profile is formed on the underside between a hinge rod (12) and the hinge rail and parallel to them. The shorter base line (26) of the rail is formed as the bearing surface while the longer base line lies in the principal plane. Raised ribs (28) parallel to the hinge rod extend on the element's top surface between both longitudinal edges, and an edge-side rib (32) forms the edge of a recess (18) which forms part of the hinge. An independent claim is included for two connected profiled elements.
