The surface locking floor element is for a system floor formed from several floor tiles at least one of which is connected to a base (2) which has an upright collar (2.1) to encase a floor tile. Connecting elements (2.2) are provided on the edges of the base for connection to adjacently laid floor elements. Grooves are located at least on two opposite lying edges of the floor panels and within these grooves locate tongues (2.3) provided on the base, and the tile is pressed into the base.
