A weatherproof and tear resistant geotextile (3) is laid on top of the embankment (1) and an anchor mat (4) comprising synthetic yarns is placed on top of the geotextile. Ground anchors (2) are used to secure the two fabrics to the embankment and the anchor mat is then covered with soil (5).
