Today the corn-cob harvesting devices have developed a very fast feeding performance, resulting in the stalks being pulled apart instead of cut off with a straight cut. Stubbles, too long and frayed at the top, are a problem in re-planting and can accommodate insects and other pests. The new design of a corn-cob harvesting device(1) is fitted with an additional horizontally rotating cutting unit (6), positioned underneath the picking arrangement and cutting the irregular tips of the stubbles.
