The deep grooved ridge or hip ventilation tile (1) between its outward bent edges and its water channel side is provided with an air deflecting surface (4) which terminates flush with the upper edge of the channel strip of the tile and rises steadily from between the center region to the foot region of the tile. The aligning upper edges of ribs for the seating of the tiles end clearly below the upper edge of the tile's channel strip. The air-deflecting surface consists of one plane or as part of a gently rising parabola or hyperbola.
