The crossbow has the customary drawing force of approximately 35/70 kg exceeded in that the usual wide crossbow shafts in partly weight-reduced hollow structural form accommodate a gearwheel crank (1) with toothed bars (2). A securement against undesired backward rotation is provided in a ratchet mechanism. The forward feed of the gearwheel crank into the starting position is effected by a press button (3) with spring bars. The slide guide (4) is pressed downwards three times against the pressure of springs (5). This causes the gearwheel crank to be fed rapidly into the starting position. The pressure of the slide guide to the toothed bars is guaranteed by the springs.
