The cover plate, which may be for more than one tube, can have at least one adapter plate (14, 20), made on more than one piece, fitted to its base body (2). The components (16, 24) of the adapter ring are glued to each other in a position not round the tube. In this condition, they are lacquered, at least on their visible side. The glue is brittle enough for the components to be broken apart by hand.
