The drip guard (10) for a fluid container with a neck consists of an absorbent and flexible material and/or paper and/or plastic collar which extends around the neck as a ring. The collar is pressed onto the outer side of the neck by an encompassing rubber cord (12). The collar is in sleeve or tunnel form, with the rubber cord guided through the sleeve form hollow space. The collar has an encompassing skirt which defines the hollow space.
