A hospital operating theatre respirator (1) has a twin-lumen endotracheal tube (4) with a patient-distal extension (11) through which the lumina (5, 6) are inserted, separated by a partition (7). The respirator further has a link piece (12) with two pipe connections (17, 18) which locate in the extension (11) socket (14), and which are held separate by a further partition (19). Hoses (32, 33) join the link connectors at one end and at the respirator (1) at the other.
