An assembly to measure the height levels of layered liquids or the limit layers in multi-phase liquid mixtures, in a container, has an ultrasonic converter containing a piezoelectric component. It has a set or a variable transmission frequency and/or pulse length, and a given or variable amplitude. It acts as a transmitter (4) and, at the same time, is a receiver (5) between transmitted pulses switched by a transmission/reception change switch (3).
