A support frame for a vehicle dashboard is made without welding and heat processing with the main section extruded and pressed. The section has flanges formed along its length onto which brackets are secured by riveting, crimping or by any other suitable means. The ends of the main section are fitted with press fit connecting brackets which secure the mounting to the vehicle shell. The brackets can also be secured by adhesive, with an inner grooved profile of the main section providing a grip for the mountings.
