A grip has parallel jaws which are brought together to hold pieces of sheet metal at readiness e.g. for a laser welding process. The clamp head is esp. slides and/or at right angles to the clamp head centreline. The clamp head slides axially relative to the surrounding housing. The jaws retain their parallel presentation in both the open and closed positions.
