A hand-grip (1) is linked to a mechanism opening a door, cabinet, window etc. in a place frequented by many hygiene conscious persons e.g. hospital. Movement of the handle triggers a handle disinfecting process using an agent discharged from a reservoir (5). One part of the hand grip is always submerged in the agent while another part is free for use. After release of one part of the hand/grip, the second disinfected part is exposed for access.
