The vacuum handling device comprises a lifting tube connected to a vacuum system, and a suction gripper by which an object is drawn up and by contraction of the tube raised. The system creating the vacuum has a suction fan with an impeller rotating in a casing. A plastic coating which partially wears away during the first operation of the impeller is provided on the impeller casing inner surface sections facing the impeller and forming with it a narrow gap.
