A hand-held throwing baton consists essentially of a straight length (20-28 cm) of profiled aluminium, with a screw-fit spike steel tip. The baton nose has an aperture with an axial screw (2.8 mm) thread for the matching spike anchorage bolt. The baton rear end has a similar (8 mm) inner thread to receive a balancing weight.
