Actuating element for a medical forceps, and its use in a medical forceps

A widened section (71) of the jaw piece (32) of the forceps has a T-shaped slot (72) formed in it. Above the T-shaped slot is an L-shaped slot (73) which has sections parallel to sections of the T-shaped slot. The operating element (10) is fed into the T-shaped slot such that pins (66) which are formed at the end of the operating element in a one piece construction are located in upper and lower sections of the T-shaped slot.The operating element is then turned 90 deg. into the working position so that it can move within the L-shaped slot. In the working position the pins (66) can not come out of the T-shaped slot and a linear-to-and-fro movement of the operating element is translated into an angular movement of the jaw pieces.
