A known hologram material (Fig. 1a) has a reflecting layer (2) having a fine dimple pattern (embossed by a stamper) on its surface and is adhered (5) to a substrate (6); portions of the reflective layer are selectively heated by heating means (8) so as to become non-reflective and form a recording of information (Fig. 1b). A hologram transfer foil (Fig. 2) consists of a base film (24) bearing a release layer (23), a hologram layer (21) of thermoplastic transparent resin, and a reflective metal film (22), and optionally a protective resin layer (28) thereon (Fig. 3). The hologram is selectively transferred by the application patternwise of an adhesive material (29, Fig.4) on substrate (2b) and placing of its reflective layer (22) thereon and peeling off the base film (24). Heat-activated, solvent-activated or pressure-sensitive adhesives are usable. Ink patterns can be used to add the transfer. The release layer has a peel strength of 1 to 5g/inch. IMAGE
