To realise a stylus pen for use in a coordinate reading device which has a function of drawing out a pen tip thereof and prevents the drawing out operation from affecting the writing pressure detecting operation. A fixed core 5 having a coil 7 wound therearound is provided at a forward position of a pen shaft 1. A knock member 4 has secured thereto a knocking type mechanical pencil unit 2 and is provided with a writing pressure transmission portion 42 at its part Also, a writing pressure transmission member 3 is provided so as to contact the knock member 4 and thereby cause a writing pressure to be transmitted thereto from the knock member 4. A movable core 6 is provided at a surface of the writing pressure transmission member 3 in contact with the fixed core 5. According to this construction, although the pushing force of pushing a rear end of the knock member 4 is not transmitted to the writing pressure transmission member 3, application of a writing pressure to the knock member 4 causes contact thereof at the writing pressure transmission portion 42 and causes movement of the writing pressure transmission member 3, with the result that the movable core 6 is spaced away from the fixed core 5, thereby the inductance of the coil 7 is varied. Thus, it is possible to realise a stylus pen enabling detection of the writing pressure without being influenced by the knocking operation. IMAGE
