The filter consists of a filter element in the form of a mat of non-woven fibres, and a grille containing a filler of a mineral designed to reduce flame propagation. The filler can be a metal alkaline-earth silicate, a magnesium silicate such as a natural magnesium silicate or talc, and comprises between 10 and 40 per cent by weight of the grille. The filter can also incorporate a gas adsorption layer of activated carbon fabric between the filter element and grille.
