Method for checking the operation of a forcing or stamping press (1) that has a fixed operation path. According to the method the press is made to operate at least once up until a given nominal position, the resulting dimension is measured and the resulting measurement values are processed. For checking the device operation, a calibrated press simulator (12) is used during operation of the press.
